Weather Agent is a free, non-commercial personal project by Jason Arbon. Its personal AI runs on your iPhone. Weather and news requests still need online services.
What stays on your devices
Preferences, saved cities, weather caches, interests, and news reading signals are stored locally. The app uses Apple Foundation Models for weather conversations and personalization when available. It does not send chat text to a remote AI model. Dictation uses on-device speech recognition and does not fall back to server transcription. The microphone starts only when you request dictation.
The app and its widgets share local weather and preference data through an Apple app group. The optional Apple Watch companion receives a weather summary through Apple's device communication services. Calendar details can appear in notifications or widgets when you enable those features; consider who can see your screen.
Location, weather, and maps
Location access is optional. You can search for a city instead. When a forecast is requested, the selected coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo and, for U.S. alert coverage, the National Weather Service. City searches are sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service. Map, place lookup, and route features may send location or route information to Apple Maps services. These services receive ordinary network information, such as your IP address, and handle requests under their own policies.
Google AI forecast data is obtained through Open-Meteo; using this forecast does not mean your chat is sent to Google. Read Open-Meteo's terms and privacy information, the National Weather Service privacy policy, and Apple's privacy policy.
Radar maps load map tiles from RainViewer. The tile requests identify the map area you view and expose ordinary network information to that provider. See RainViewer for its service and privacy information.
Optional Calendar and Apple Health access
If you connect Calendar, Weather Agent reads event times and mapped locations to show weather around your plans. Event titles can be used in local AI analysis. Event notes are not sent to an AI service. Forecast requests for an event share its destination coordinates with weather providers, not its title or notes. Route requests may share the origin and destination with Apple Maps.
If you connect Apple Health, the app reads recent outdoor workout types and times to infer possible activity patterns on your device. It does not write Health data or send workout records to weather providers or cloud AI. Health information is not used for advertising, marketing, or data sales. Both connections are optional and can be disconnected in the app; you can also revoke permission in iOS or Health settings.
Weather news
News feeds are downloaded from NASA, Google Research, and Google News. Local news queries can include the names of your current area or followed cities. Relevance scores, likes, dislikes, and reading history are processed and saved on your device. Opening a story visits the publisher's website, where that site's privacy and cookie policies apply.
Support, TestFlight, and this website
If you email jarbon@gmail.com, your email address and anything you include are used to reply and investigate your request. Avoid sending sensitive calendar, Health, or location information unless it is necessary for your question. Support correspondence is kept only as needed to handle support and related recordkeeping; you can request deletion.
TestFlight and Apple's diagnostic services can collect installation, usage, crash, device, and feedback information under Apple's policies and your settings. Feedback you choose to share may be available to the developer. See TestFlight privacy information.
The Weather Agent marketing, support, and privacy pages do not include an advertising tracker or analytics script. The hosting provider may process request information for site delivery and security. Other Jarbon Co pages may have different analytics practices. Following an external link is subject to that service's policies.
Your choices and deletion
You can use weather without location, Calendar, Health, microphone, or notification permission. Manage permissions in iOS Settings. In the app, you can forget saved interests, remove saved cities, disconnect personal connections, and clear news reading history and reactions. Deleting the app removes its app-managed local data according to iOS behavior; device backups and paired-device copies are managed separately through Apple. There is no Weather Agent cloud account to delete.
Forecast caches and preferences remain locally until replaced, cleared, or removed with the app. Third-party service logs follow those providers' retention policies. Weather Agent does not sell personal data or use it to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Changes and contact
This policy will be updated if the app's data practices change. Questions or privacy requests: jarbon@gmail.com. Developer: Jason Arbon.
